Inskip: check the campsite and the barge approach separately
Conditions checked · Recheck official notices before travelling.
If Inskip is part of your K'gari plan, give the mainland leg its own check before booking. Queensland Parks currently lists temporary hazardous-tree and campground-maintenance closures for 26 October 2026 to 12 March 2027. The listing alone does not establish which camping areas close on particular dates. Confirm the arrangements for your chosen campsite through the park's current advice and booking service. Inskip camping and alert listings.
There is a more immediate issue at the barge approach. An active erosion notice says the entrance and exit tracks have narrowed into a shared lane. Queensland Parks advises travelling within two hours either side of low tide, allowing for delays and checking current Mantaray Barge advice. Conditions can change with weather and tides. Official Inskip erosion notice.
Our planning take: treat the overnight stop, beach approach and crossing as three separate parts of the itinerary. Confirmation of one does not confirm the others. Leave enough flexibility to adjust the driving day if the tide window or access advice changes; an extra margin is more useful than arriving with a rigid timetable.
