Coongie and Innamincka: check the whole route before committing

Flooding continues to affect a trip through Malkumba-Coongie Lakes and the Innamincka area. The current park pages warn that Coongie Lakes National Park and significant parts of Innamincka Regional Reserve are closed until further notice. Official park closure advice.
The detail needs care. The Desert Parks Bulletin dated 1 September lists extensive closures, while a separate alert dated 4 August retains different advice for some individual tracks. We have not confirmed those disputed track statuses with the park office; check directly before including them in your route. September bulletin and separate park alert.
Before committing fuel, accommodation or a convoy to the route, ask the Innamincka reserve office about the exact roads and campsites you intend to use. Its published number is 08 8675 9909. Park contact details.
The useful backup plan is a complete alternative itinerary: driving distances, overnight stops and resupply considered together. An isolated open road elsewhere on the map does not make the intended journey work. Reconfirm close to departure and follow closures on the ground.
