Barrington Tops: plan around the September access dates

Conditions checked · Recheck official notices before travelling.

Barrington Tops needs a careful date check before the next camping trip. NPWS's seasonal vehicle closures run until the afternoon of Friday 25 September. They affect several 4WD trails and vehicle access to Junction Pools, Little Murray and Gummi Falls campgrounds. This remains a scheduled endpoint, so confirm access before setting off. NPWS local alerts.

A newer notice adds repairs on Tubrabucca Road between Bullock Brush trail and Polblue Falls picnic area from 21 September. Reopening is expected at 5pm on 25 September, weather permitting. The same alerts page also lists aerial 1080 baiting for 12–20 September. Domestic pets are prohibited in the national park, and the baiting warning matters to people with animals near adjoining land too. Current closures and baiting notice.

The practical move is to check both the approach road and the final campground access. A campsite on the map does not establish that the vehicle route is available. Save an alternative overnight stop before leaving coverage, and give the whole group the same revised plan.
