Montezuma Falls 4WD track closes for September works
Conditions checked · Recheck official notices before travelling.
The Montezuma Falls 4WD track is closed from Monday 21 September, with Tasmania’s Parks and Wildlife Service expecting works to take approximately two weeks.
The vehicle track approaches from the Murchison Highway near Melba Flats on Tasmania’s west coast. The notice does not give a firm reopening date. PWS Tasmania’s current alerts.
A separate walking-track notice, dated 26 August, reports windfall and landslip. That older notice still refers to access via the 4WD track. Do not rely on it as permission to drive in: the newer notice closes the vehicle track from 21 September.
Check the current notices before departure and ask the PWS West Coast Field Centre on (03) 6409 1020 to confirm access. An estimated works duration is not confirmation that a track has reopened.
