Victorian alpine tracks scheduled to reopen on 29 October
Conditions checked · Recheck official notices before travelling.
Parks Victoria lists Thursday 29 October 2026 as the seasonal reopening date for several high-elevation alpine roads and tracks. The date is a planning guide, subject to current conditions and any extended closures.
The current notice covers Dargo High Plains Road, Blue Rag Range Track, Basalt North Track, Twins Track, Twins Jeep Track, Mount Murray Track North and Gunns Track. The 2026 seasonal closure schedule also records 29 October opening dates for many Alpine National Park roads; individual routes can have different dates.
Check the park’s current access notices before leaving and again close to travel. Storm-damaged Cobberas, Ingeegoodbee and Macfarlane Flat tracks have separate closures, so the seasonal date does not establish access to those routes.
Josh’s take: Keep an alternative route and overnight stop in the plan until the roads you need are confirmed open.
