K’gari: Urang Creek bridge damage closes part of Northern Road

A structural failure at the Urang Creek bridge has closed the section of Northern Road between Bogimbah Mission and Postans Road on K’gari. Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service lists a detour via Postans Road and Bogimbah Road.
The individual park alert, published on 30 September, applies from 29 September to 29 December 2026. QPWS says reopening depends on repairing the damage, so the alert’s end date should not be treated as a confirmed reopening.
The current alerts list also carries the Northern Forests scenic drive closure, with a detour, until 7 September 2027 and a partial Cornwells Road closure until 30 June 2027. Check each road needed for your itinerary and follow the current signed route.
