Plan the trip
Your assumptions stay visible and editable.
1Vehicle and fuel
Start from your vehicleFills tank capacity and a starting consumption figure
Use the fuel capacity you can actually draw from. Auxiliary tanks can be added to the total if they feed reliably.
2Your normal consumption
Best input: litres added ÷ kilometres travelled × 100, measured over several fills. The dashboard figure is useful, but a fill-to-fill average is better.
3Trip conditions
These adjustments are planning inputs, not universal correction factors. If you already know your loaded, towing or sand consumption, enter that figure as the observed consumption and leave the adjustments at zero.
Remote travel: range is not a promise. Weather, detours, low range, tyre pressure, idling and track conditions can move consumption sharply. Carry an appropriate reserve and reassess during the trip.
